Welcome aboard the AuthorShip, an editing and book coaching service for fiction writers.

Writing can be a tough business, but it doesn’t have to be a lonely one.
Let’s work together to get your story straight.

Why hire a professional editor?

Maybe you’ve self-edited your manuscript, but something still feels off. Maybe nothing feels off, and you’re afraid you can no longer see the forest for the trees. Or maybe you’re a new writer stuck halfway through your plot with no idea how to get yourself out of it.

The AuthorShip can help.

Hi! I’m Cameron Montague Taylor (call me Cee). As a developmental editor, book coach, and sensitivity reader, I’ll take a detailed eye to plot, character, worldbuilding, pacing, scene dynamics, and more to help you:

What Cee Edits:

Genres:

  • Fantasy and Science Fiction
  • Horror (cosmic/atmospheric)
    • Note: I don’t love vampires. I’ll edit works with them, but if they’re your central characters, I might not be a good fit.
  • Cozy Mystery
  • Historical Fiction
    • (Note: I’m not interested 20-21st century settings unless they have speculative elements)
  • Dual-genre Romance
    • (SFF, Historical, Paranormal, etc.)

Specialties:

  • Novels, novellas, series
  • Give me your chonky epics!
    • Looking to self-publish a doorstopper or cut a manuscript down to query-able size? I can help!
  • Nautical settings
  • Adult and Upper-YA
  • LGBTQIA+ characters and themes
  • Learn more about my yucks and yums by checking out my manuscript wishlist!

Not a Good Fit For:

  • Nonfiction, Screenplays, Short Stories, Poetry
  • Literary Fiction
  • Procedural/Slasher/Serial Killer

“Cee’s strength lies in creating a sense of emotional depth and resonance with the characters of the story, allowing the reader to fully immerse themselves in the book. My stories are certainly better for her invaluable feedback and keen eye for detail!“

-Alistair Reeves, author, UK

“Revisions will always make me want to puke, but we persevere, and with Cee’s help, the process is no longer as intimidating as it was when I started.”

-A.H., author, USA

“Cee’s feedback was absolutely invaluable, not just in terms of making my book better, but in terms of not letting me stray from the story I wanted to tell.”

-Mónica Bacatelo Guerra, author, Portugal
